Dr. Patel treated me for toenail fungus on several toes that I had no success treating on my own. During our initial consultation, Dr. Patel spent a great deal of time talking to me about different treatment options and about the pros/cons of each option. I decided to pursue the laser treatment option...I am extremely pleased with my results and would 100% recommend this treatment and this clinic.

If you are like me and have been hiding your feet, or painting over that ugly toenail, then come see Dr. Patel. He is extremely good at what he does! At first I was a little hesitant with the price, but it was so worth it. Just follow his instructions and you will be amazed at what he can do!

Great practice, always clean and the staff and doctors are very nice. I dropped something on my big toe years back and ever since my nail has grown funky. It was yellow and thick and sometimes painful. I went and saw Dr. Patel who told me about the oral medication options, laser options, and then his "suggested treatment". I really did not want to take any medications that would risk my liver, and so I started with the laser package. Within a couple of treatments I could tell Dr. Patel was the man - and so I told him to bump me up to his platinum treatment option where he used different lasers and had me putting some creams on my nail. You can't even tell I had a fungal nail anymore. Go see Dr. Patel - he will deliver!!

Toenail Fungus (Nail Fungus)

Onychomycosis - Thick, Yellow, Crumbly Nails

Nail fungus is a common infection of the nail. It begins as a white or yellow-brown spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the fungal infection goes deeper, the nail may discolor, thicken and crumble at the edge. Nail fungus can affect several nails.

If your condition is mild and not bothering you, you may not need treatment. If your nail fungus is painful and has caused thickened nails, self-care steps and medications may help. But even if treatment is successful, nail fungus often comes back. There are several prescription based treatments available that your Podiatrist can discuss with you ranging from oral antifungals to topical ointments. Although most of these prescription based treatments are covered by insurances, the downside is that some of the more effective treatments has risks one may want to avoid - including liver problems. For example, a commonly prescribed oral antifungal, Terbinafine (Lamisil), undergoes first-pass-metabolism - meaning it is processed through the liver. As a result, this may require periodic Liver Function Tests. Among the topical medications, most prescription based topicals can take anywhere from 8 months to over a year to show any improvement with daily application. This can become costly if the medication is not fully covered by your insurance. Lastly, there are several over-the-counter and home remedies for fungal nails - all of which have varying results, but in large part are ineffective.
